The Makiri is a versatile Japanese outdoor knife, used for a variety of tasks by outdoor enthusiasts. It’s also a favorite among professional bartenders, who use it for cutting and shaping ice cubes.
Traditionally, it was designed for Japanese fishermen, who used it for cutting fish, rope, and more. Its traditional single-bevel blade is forged from high-carbon Shirogami No. 2 white steel. With a hardness of approximately 61-62 HRC, it is designed for demanding users who know how to handle and maintain it, as it will develop a patina.
