Sakura (桜) means “cherry blossoms. I chose this theme for this collection, to celebrate the arrival of spring and beautiful days, giving a nod to this emblematic time of year in Japan. The cherry blossom. The collection consists of 8 pieces, 3 of which have a saya matching the handle. In the handles we find aluminum honeycomb to bring a link with spring; in the saya I included dried cherry blossoms. The emblematic colors of this collection are white, red, pink / fuchsia, orange and yellow.

Nagakawa-san apprenticed with the legendary master blacksmith Kenichi Shiraki, who created the Shiraki Hamono brand, eventually becoming its head when Shiraki-san retired. In 2005, Nakagawa-san changed the brand’s name to Nakagawa Hamono.
Nakagawa-san is now one of the most renowned blacksmiths in the world of high-end artisanal cutlery. He works with all types of steel, but his mastery of heat treatment is best appreciated with Ginsan, Aogami #1, and Shirogami #1 steels.

Handcrafted, limited edition from the Sakura collection. The octagonal handle is made of hybrid stabilized and stained poplar burl with resin and aluminum honeycomb inclusions, with white stone spacers.
This blade is forged from Ginsan steel, a steel that combines the best of both worlds: rust-resistant and stainless. The high carbon content of this alloy allows it to achieve a very fine edge and remain sharp for a long time. Furthermore, the chromium content in the alloy is high enough to make this blade resistant to oxidation.
The kiritsuke is a blade similar in use to a gyuto. It is therefore a versatile blade, with a less curved edge and a beveled tip.
